Welcome to Ancestral Nurture
“Healing comes when the individual remembers his or her identity-the purpose chosen in the world of ancestral wisdom-and reconnects with that world of spirit” - Maladoma Some (Dagara Tradition) - Native American
Our lives don’t only begin with us we inherit stories, relationships, beliefs, cultural histories and ways of understanding the world. Some of what we inherit can nourish us; some can leave us carrying grief, disconnection, questions about belonging or a sense that something has been lost along the way.
Ancestral Nurture is a bespoke one-to-one experience for exploring what you carry, what has shaped you and what you may wish to carry forward.
I create nurturing spaces to explore identity through relationship—with ourselves, our history, nature and the mysteries of being human
What is Ancestral Nurture?
"To know where you are going, you first have to know where you have come from." Inuit Proverb
Birth and death are two of the most certain things we hold in life. They are outside of our control and yet bring some of the deepest and crucial factors of our wellbeing. Grief is an intrinsic process and can be debilitating to go through alone. However we certainly do not escape grief at some time or another in our lives.
Ancestral Nurture brings together my therapeutic understanding of relationship and emotional experience with my exploration of transpersonal practice, ancestry, nature, symbolism and spiritual traditions.
This is not telling you what your ancestors want you to know, predicting your future or asking you to adopt a particular belief system.
I have created this space for curiosity and care to enable you to nurture during these painful processes.
You might come with a question about your ancestry, a sense of never feeling at home, unexplainable anger, sadness or fear. Whatever is happening for you then these questions might be the areas we explore;
What have we inherited?
What have we survived?
What strengths have been carried forward alongside the pain?
There doesn't need to be an answer. Sometimes the space to ask the question is where something begins to change.
You might be drawn to Ancestral Nurture if you:
feel disconnected from your sense of identity or belonging
have an interest in your family or cultural history
carry grief that feels difficult to put into words
feel curious about patterns that seem to travel through generations
are exploring spirituality or meaning but don't want certainty or prescribed answers
feel drawn towards nature, symbolism, creativity or ritual
are experiencing a transition in your life and want space to reflect
want to explore your relationship with where you have come from and where you are going
And importantly:
You don't need to identify as spiritual to come. You can be curious, questioning, sceptical or simply open to exploring what emerges.
I have always reflected on my emotions since being small, it is a skill that deepened with my therapeutic training when I finally found a space I could breath life into this part of me.
The process of death and birth fascinated me and I have forever been interested in mystery, intuition and the ways humans seek meaning; the battle has sat within the tension that lives between mystery and certainty. Having explored many spiritual concepts from all over the world I am always drawn back to these very human elements
This is not a service of mediumship, however sometimes you might have your own experience of loved ones in spirit. I act as your guide for this and
Instead, I offer a grounded space in which you can explore your own relationship with spirituality, symbolism and meaning making. This can enable your own intuition and process of reflection as you move into a deeper connection with yourself, to bring peace so that you can move into your life with a deep inner strength and stability.
This practice is based on a body of work that I am creating through my reflective experience, it is not a counselling service but I aim to keep the information as accurate as possible.
